His back-breaking labor, the hunger, danger and servitude, bring to light the horrors of peonage. The presentation is co-sponsored by the New Mexico Humanities Council and admission is a suggested donation of $2.

Enjoy our new-look Heritage Gallery

A new 69-feet-long, 10-feet-tall mural depicting ancient agriculture in the area welcomes visitors into the gallery. Museum staff members worked with muralist Tony Pennock and several NMSU Students to create the colorful piece. Another addition to the gallery is the re-created mercantile that allows visitors to step back into another era.

Temple of the Warriors: Rebuilding a Maya Monument

New Mexico State University Museum Kent Hall, Corner of University Avenue and Solano Drive. Tuesday – Saturday Noon – 4 pm. 575-646-5161. Free and open to the public. A traveling exhibit from the Museum of Natural History, University of Colorado. In 1924, a major restoration project began in the ancient Maya city of Chichén Itzá. This exhibit chronicals the adventure of a team assembled by the Carnegie Institution in Washington, DC that ventured into the jungles of the Yucatan to reconstruct the spectacular monument known as The Temple of the Warriors. Among the team's illustrious members were noted archeologists Ann and Earl Morris. Working side by side over 4 long field seasons, the couple helped make archeological history with their innovative work in reclaiming the great stone structure.

The duo recorded a live show at XM Studios in Washington, DC revisiting many of their great songs from the 70s. While playing homage to folk pioneers like Joni Mitchell, Molly's music strikes a chord with fans of artists as diverse as Shawn Colvin and Feist, Indigo Girls, and Nora Jones, Tracy Chapman and Regina Spektor, Soul-folk siren ala Ray Lamontagne, Colbie Callait, Ingrid Michaelson. She has toured coast to coast several times, and released her fourth album "Love Me Like You Mean It" in May of '08. She has played venues such as Ghengis Cohen in LA, Cactus Cafe in Austin, Uncommon Ground in Chicago, The Living Room in NYC and Club Passim in Boston, and has shared the stage with Amos Lee, Patty Griffin, Josh Ritter and Erin Mceowen. White Sands Missile Range, From Las Cruces, N.M.: Take the Highway 70 East exit from Interstate 10 or 25 and proceed through the city about 25 miles to the missile range exit. From Alamogordo, N.M.: Take Highway 70 west. Proceed about 47 miles to the missile range exit. From El Paso, Texas: Take the Alamogordo Highway 54 exit off Interstate 10. As you leave the off-ramp, you will be on the Patriot Freeway. Continue through the northeast part of the city until the freeway becomes Martin Luther King. White Sands Missile Range is straight ahead about 40 miles. 6 am.
